Dave Nandes - photography
Dave Nandes is an amateur photographer from the suburbs somewhere west of Toronto. His primary focus is currently portraiture, live music performances, band promotional shots and learning what the hell he's doing. If you like any of his work on display at Squiggfest, ask nice and he might just give it to you. You can view more of his work at Davenandes.com and Villanandes.blogspot.com.

Synthesis project – theatre
The Synthesis Project (of which The Fort is the first instalment) was developed as a means to examine the concept of “a place in time”, from a multi-disciplinary approach. Each place (or locale) constitutes the subject matter from which participating artists create fragments of material in their specific discipline (all creative material being a result of first hand experience with the place in question and through in-depth research). The array of developed work is then combined to create a collective presentation that captures the spirit of the place and strives to generate synthesis between forms within a spontaneous performance environment. This synthesis is ultimately meant to present a finite creation that is as fragile, individual and alive as the place in time that is the artist’s subject.

Kiki Mahy - spoken word
Kiki Mahy is a creative, free spirited moonchild navigating the path of life with gratitude, humility and the sweet taste of poetry on her tongue. She was first introduced to spoken word in July 2008 and since then has performed at a number of events including: Squiggfest '08, Cryptic Chatter, Toronto Poetry Slam, Burlington Slam Project, Rochdale Rhymes and Readings, Rust Belt Regional Poetry Slam and Brantford's Find Your Spirit Festival. Kiki not only loves cheesecake, lilies and the smell of rain, but is also fascinated by butterflies and is trying very hard to be a turtle. She can be seen this August at the Art Bar, Salon Series and Sea Change.
Ibrahim Shoom - comedian
Born in the desert to Bedouin mystics and tempered by the new world, Ibrahim’s comedy reflex is bi-cultured upbringing. With his real life accounts and sarcastic delivery, he’s making a dent at open mic nights that no one can hammer out. An Alumni of SQF, Ibrahim played Commissioner Gordon in the One Act play “Evening with Mr. J” as well as kept everyone in stitches at last years SQF. Ibrahim Shoom is ready to lay ya out and make comedic love with everyone. Don't worry he's clean.

Bryan the Great - comedic folk
When not waiting tables, comedian Bryan P. enjoys serenading his audience with a unique blend of acoustic guitar, non sequitur, and filthy wit. A jack of all trades, he is an avid sketch writer, actor and comedy short producer. Born and raised in the GTA, he is a trained improviser, self-taught musician, and graduate of the Humber Comedy program. A lover of animals for both comfort and eating purposes, Bryan resides near St. Lawrence market, where he has discovered a world of bacon he never thought possible. Although he loves the charm and bustle of city life, a cottage porch and an old six string is his natural habitat.

Aaron Water - Dance
Aaron Piepszny started dancing to beats and for feeling when he was 18 or so. Currently a decade deep into his spontaneous movement path as a dancer, he started dancing for how it ballet looks in earnest in 2005, after beginning a parallel journey into b-boying (AKA breaking) and hip hop funk style dances: waving, boogaloo. tutting, popping.
He spent two years on and off the road in someone else’s one man mime show, performing for youngsters of different sizes, and dancing in university studios, parking lots, parks, concert dance stages and Art Galleries.
Recently he has been on stage as part of OMO Dance’s last shows, International Dance Day, Coexisdance, CO-Lab Improv showdown, and Hot Soup as well as busking as a white face mime/robot in Toronto and Montreal.
He has described his work in many ways. One of the most recent self-descriptions reads: “post-modern balletic hip hop mime- abstraction and representation.” He’s got solid splits, soaring leaps, reads books and studies tai chi, writing poems often. He is currently working with Larchaud Dance.

Jason Phin - Singer/Songwriter
Born in Minnesota, Jason Phin has been making music his whole life. He was one of the frontmen for rock band, delusional, for 10 years, gigging around Southern Ontario. They recorded 2 albums (delusional, 2001; and Fear and Loathing, 2005) and played at NXNW in 2005. Jason has since left delusional to pursue his own songwriting career and has recently recorded a new 10-song album, entitled Meet Me Here. The songs chronicle his personal journey since leaving delusional and deal with illness, addiction and self-destruction. They are songs about life and death, despair and hope, light and dark and everything in between. They are stories about the power of having fun in this world...sometimes even when it’s not so fun. Jason has been singer-songwriter with a few bands along the way, and he finds, it always seems to come back to just him and his guitar, his friends and whoever’s listening.
In his spare time, Jason is an award-winning sommelier and wine connoisseur.

The P.O.E. – rap
http://myspace.com/thepoeticallyorganizedentity
The poetically organized entity (the p.o.e.) has been rapping forever...he complains with a poetry that's both beautifuland disgusting over top of beats that are charming in their simplicity...seemingly in a constant battle with a mystery emcee, the p.o.e. strives to prove he is the best with offensive rhymes designed to tear down anyone in his way...a genuine weirdo, the p.o.e. (formerly of award winning rap duo The Boys of Thunder) is a creative original on a quest to make us see his beautiful negativity, laugh a little and maybe throw up.
Above it all - Band
This is not American Idol! This is not a campaign, this is not marketing. It is music, from the soul and shared with you. Above It All is a St.Catharine's rock band brought together to save the music industry from evolving into a commercially promoted disaster.
In an era where everything is overdone, Above It All seems to play music true to themselves.
